We have a 15 year history of developing and maintaining clinical quality measures for use across the nation.

OFMQ has played an important role in assisting Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to set the national standards for providing care based on valid and useful healthcare quality metrics. OFMQ has been a successful measure developer for 15 years with expertise and experience in developing measures for the inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory surgical center settings.  We currently support this work through a subcontract to FMQAI for work under a Hospital Inpatient Value, Incentives, and Quality Reporting Outreach and Education Support contract.

Under this subcontract we provide technical support for existing performance measures as well as production of the instruction manuals that accompany the measures. Our team of professionals are responsible for the bi-annual production, editing and publication of the CMS/Joint Commission National Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Specifications Manual posted on QualityNet. This manual is used by healthcare facilities nationwide in the collection of the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (HIQR) performance data.

Our technical support also includes partnering with relevant organizations in the process of measure specification alignment, facilitating the teleconferences that bring these organizations together and hosting the shared website that allows document review and revision by all participants. Other responsibilities include providing support to hospitals and Quality Improvement Organizations in the abstraction of the national hospital quality measures and providing education to clinicians and abstractors on the clinical aspects of the measures.
